The project for the development of Gaia DPCT, the Italian data processing center of the mission Gaia, is made by the scientific team of the Astronomical Observatory of Turin in collaboration with ALTEC, and is funded by the Italian Space.

SALVEREMO - A project for the development of an automatic localization system for people lost in the wilderness. The goal of this project, now concluded, was to prototype a tool for detecting isolated mobile phones, which could be used by the national rescue teams to localise people lost in the mountains.

We report an interesting study published in the Portal Digital Agenda for Europe.

The project ForgetIT, in its third year of work, has the purpose of studying and promoting a new approach to the "Digital Preservation", outside the traditional areas related to digital libraries or archives.

GAIA mission is proceeding aligned with the plans, objectives and goals of this first phase.

Gaia mission blasted off this morning on a Soyuz rocket from Europe's Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana, at 10:12 CET.
